Six Farmington Events to Catch January 2017

We have selected six special events to help you make the most of January 2017!  From art exhibits to rock climbing, January offers a fun selection of events for anyone looking for something to do in Farmington. New Mexico.

  1. Redress: Upcycled Style by Nancy Judd
    Artist Nancy Judd’s traveling exhibit, Redress, is on display at the Farmington Museum. This free exhibit features couture fashion and accessories made entirely from recycled items. Nancy Judd’s creations have been exhibited worldwide and accepted into the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution. This is a must see! Exhibit on display January through June 2017.   2. Technicolor Dreaming
    This Rock and Roll Hall of Fame collection of psychedelic posters from the 1960’s, is on exhibit at the Farmington Museum. A stunning display of rock and roll history and artistry, the collection features concert posters from American and British rock artists of the era, such as Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead, and Pink Floyd. The exhibit is free and on display January through March 2017. Information: 505-599-1174
     
  3. AstroFriday
    San Juan College Planetarium will entertain and educate audiences on Friday, January 6th with the planetarium show “Glacier Bay: Alaska from the Ground, Air, And Space”, followed by a spectacular stargaze.  Planetarium show offered at 6:30pm and 7:30pm. Stargaze will be held (weather permitting) at 8:30pm. Admission is free, seating is limited.
     
  4. Work for Yourself @ 50+
    The Enterprise Center will lead this interactive workshop, specifically designed to help people 50 and older learn about what it takes to be successfully self-employed in today’s economy. Class will meet on Wednesday, January 18th, 2:00pm - 4:00pm, at San Juan College West. Call the Enterprise Center for information and to reserve your seat: 505-566-3699.
     
  5. Family Climbing Night Friday
    Grab the family and get ready for an evening of fun! Enjoy music, games and test your skills on the San Juan College climbing wall Friday, January 20th from 4:00 to 7:00pm.  First timers and all ages are welcome! This is a fun opportunity to learn about rock climbing in a safe and family friendly environment. Event is free to members of the Health and Human Performance Center and $5 per climber for non-members.   6. Health and Wellness Fair
    The Farmington Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness Fair will be held at the Farmington Civic Center on Saturday, January 28th, 10:00am to 1:00pm. Discover how you can work towards a healthier life in 2017 and learn about the health and wellness services available in San Juan County. Fun kids activities onsite! Information: 505-325-0279
