As a community committed to enhancing outdoor recreation experiences, Farmington is continuously developing trails, maps, recreation areas, and working to improve other trail user resources. At the very heart of Farmington, you will find a beautiful system of 8+ miles of trails nestled along the Animas River. Visitors can enjoy walking, running, and biking along the trails and explore parks, playgrounds, the Riverside Nature Center, and the All Veterans Memorial year-round.
Cycling Road Routes
While known for fast and fun mountain biking trails, Farmington also offers miles of cycling routes designed to make commuting and recreating via bicycle safe, efficient, and fun!
Equestrian Trails
Farmington offers a number of equestrian trail systems for avid and new riders, as well as wilderness and recreation areas which are open for free range riding!

The Animas and San Juan Rivers offer ample opportunities for recreation. River rafting and kayaking are popular ways to experience the splendor of Farmington’s rivers and wildlife. Home to over 100 species of migrating birds, come prepared for thrilling encounters and to leave no trace.
