Make the most of the marvelous month of May with these 8 special Farmington events! Click on the event title for details. 

  1. Star Wars Day - May 4, 2017
    E3 Children’s Museum & Science Center is the place for all Star Wars fans to celebrate May the 4th.  From 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. the museum will offer free, fun themed activities for all ages. Costumes are welcome, May the 4th be with you!
     
  2. AstroFriday – May 5, 2017
    San Juan College Planetarium will entertain and educate audiences with planetarium showing of “Southern Sky”, followed by a spectacular stargaze.  Planetarium show offered at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Stargaze will be held (weather permitting) at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free, seating is limited.
     
  3. Cinco de Mayo Fiesta – May 6, 2017
    Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a family-friendly fiesta, Saturday, May 6th at the Farmington Civic Center, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Join the fun and enjoy an afternoon of Mariachi bands, folk dancing, a jalapeno eating contest, salsa tasting, Chihuahua races and costume contest and free fun themed games and activities for the kids. This event is free, some paid activities are offered by vendors.
     
  4. Tour: Defensive Sites of the Dinetah – May 13, 2017
    Celebrate New Mexico Heritage Preservation Month and gather at Salmon Ruins Museum for a guided tour of Rock Art and Navajo Defensive Sites of Dinétah on Saturday, May 13th, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Executive Director Larry Baker will lead this caravan-style tour. Have a full tank of gas, lunch, water and your camera for a tour of these incredible, non-renewable cultural resources. The tour is free, but reservations are requested.  Information: 505-632-2013
     
  5. Mother Daughter Tea Party – May 20, 2017
    This special event for mothers and daughters is SOLD OUT! This is an annual event at the Sycamore Park Community Center, mark your calendar to purchase tickets early in 2018.  
     
  6. Healing Field – May 26 – 29, 2017
    Continuing Farmington’s Memorial Day weekend tradition, the San Juan East Rotary Club will host the 5th Annual Healing Field flag display at the Boys & Girls Club of Farmington, May 26th to May 29th.  This stunning display of red, white and blue presents a patriotic image that will once more bring the Farmington community together. There is no cost to visit this display; however flags can be purchased to honor a loved one. Call 505-860-3843 for flag sponsorship information.
     
  7. Riverfest - May 26-May 28, 2017
    Area rivers are celebrated with a weekend long festival, Friday May 26th to Sunday May 28th! This festive celebration takes place along the Animas river trails, from Berg Park to Animas Park in Farmington. Walk the trails or float the river and discover live entertainment, vendors, free activities, music, local artisans and more. Activities include the annual Wiener Dog Races, Riverfest 10K / 5K run & walk, river raft rides, rubber duck race, American Indian market & dance and a Fine Arts Show. Admission to this event is free; some vendor activities may have associated fees.
     
  8. Redress: Upcycled Style by Nancy Judd - May - June 2017
    Artist Nancy Judd’s traveling exhibit, Redress, is on display at the Farmington Museum. This free exhibit features couture fashion and accessories made entirely from recycled items. Nancy Judd’s creations have been exhibited worldwide and accepted into the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution. Exhibit on display through June 2017.
