Jolt Worthy Events January 2019

18 Dec, 2018

The Farmington Branding Alliance (FBA) has a fun selection of Jolt Worthy Events to feature for the month of January 2019!  For details on each event click on the event title. For a look at additional Farmington events in January and throughout 2019, visit FarmingtonNM.org/events. Jolt Worthy Events are listed in the order that they occur.

  1. Petroliana Oil and Gas Memorabilia Exhibit
The oil and gas industry has been an important part of American history, having fueled the country’s industrial expansion. One of the most visible aspects of the industry has been the memorabilia such as gas pumps, oil cans and signs which have dotted the American landscape since the beginning of the twentieth century.  The Farmington Museum has an extensive collection of these cultural artifacts on display. This exhibit will be open through 2019

  2. World War I: Lessons and Legacies
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the Farmington Museum is featuring this exhibit in the lobby.  The exhibition explores the impact and influence the war had on American life through panels from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, posters from the Library of Congress and artifacts from the museum’s collection. Exhibit on display now to March 30, 2019.

  3. Jazz Jam
Fall in love with Jazz! Join music lovers for a live Jazz Jam, every Wednesday evening from 7 to 9pm at the Farmington Civic Center.  All ages are welcome to attend these free concerts, organized by the San Juan Jazz Society

  4. Beatles vs Stones
Two of the greatest bands of all time will be facing off in a high-energy, adrenaline-pumping musical showdown at the Farmington Civic Center, on January 12, 2019! The British Invasion brought us the two most popular rock groups of all time, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, as well as the liveliest debate in rock history - which band is the greatest? These two legendary bands will engage in an on-stage, mash-up duel featuring internationally renowned tribute bands, Abbey Road and Satisfaction - The International Rolling Stones Show.  Alternating mini power sets with the two bands coming together on stage for an amazing encore makes this show a once-in-a-lifetime event. Tickets are $35, $55 and $65 plus taxes and fees and may be purchased in advance by calling 505-599-1148.

  5. Kicker Arenacross & Freestyle Show
Kicker Arenacross, the nation’s top indoor motorcycle race series, will ride into McGee Park Coliseum for this epic show on January 19, 2019. With over 150 truckloads of dirt, the Kicker Arenacross team will create a manmade motorcycle race course that will challenge even the toughest of riders. Massive air, high bank turns and technical rhythm sections will make this a must see event. If that's not enough, then hold on for the ultimate Freestyle Show. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7:30pm.

The FBA consists of local residents, organizations and businesses working together to energize how we live, work, play and stay Farmington. As a group, they have chosen to highlight events that go above and beyond to energize life journeys through exceptional performances and unique opportunities. Jolt Worthy Events deliver an unexpected surprise, they are those events that you look forward to tell your friends and family about! Each month, the FBA meets for the Action Team Meeting and votes on the top upcoming events from the community calendar at www.FarmingtonNM.org. Event organizers interested in endorsement need only submit their event to the calendar. February 2019 events will be voted on at the January 2019 Action Team Meeting.
