Farmington, NM – Hook the Money Fish! 

The New Mexico Department of Game & Fish, with sponsorship by the Farmington Convention & Visitors Bureau, has launched the 2015 Hook the Money Fish Contest!  Recently, five tagged fish were stocked in Lake Farmington, each worth $100!  Upon catching a numbered tagged fish, anglers should take the tag to the Farmington Convention & Visitors Bureau (3041 E Main, Farmington, NM), Monday – Saturday, between 8am to 5pm to collect their winnings.

All fishing rules and regulations must be followed and anglers 12 and older must buy a fishing license.  Non-motorized boat users must purchase a watercraft pass at the entrance to Lake Farmington.  Lake Farmington is a beautiful setting, located on the east end of town and maintain by the City of Farmington’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs department.

This is just one of the many ways that outdoor lovers and active families thrive in Farmington, where we Jolt Your Journey!  So, grab your gear, get out there and find those fish!

The Farmington Convention & Visitors Bureau partnered with NM Game and Fish to host Lake Farmington's first Money Fish Challenge.  NM Game and Fish released five tagged trout in Lake Farmington early in July, each worth $100. To date, the five tags created for this contest have not been turned in. The Hook the Money Fish Challenge will end October 31, 2015, the Farmington Convention & Visitors Bureau has decided to launch a photo contest for the active families and outdoor lovers that enjoy the recreational opportunities at Lake Farmington. 

Photo Contest Details

1. Find your favorite pictures taken at Lake Farmington in 2015.

2. Share your pictures on the Visit Farmington​ Facebook page or Instagram October 14 to  November 1, 2015.

3. Enter each photo in the contest by using the official Farmington hashtags #joltyourjourney and #playfarmington

4. Select the category your photo will be entered in by using one of the following hashtags: 
   #farmingtonfisherkids - Children under 18 fishing at Lake Farmington
   #farmingtonfishingfamily - Family fishing adventure at Lake Farmington
   #farmingtonfisherman - Men fishing or fish caught by men at Lake Farmington
   #farmingtonladyangler - Women fishing or fish caught by women at Lake Farmington
   #lakefarmington - Any outdoor lover moment captured at Lake Farmington in 2015

5. A winner will be selected at random from each of the categories and will be announced on November 2, 2015. 

Note: Specific numbered tags were used on the five fish, not all tagged fish are eligible for this contest.  The contest ends October 31, 2015.  Tagged fish caught after this date are not eligible for prize money.
