One Room School House Experience

Students (age 6-13) can step back in time and head back to school for a day in the Pioneer Village's Koogler One Room School House. This unique experience simulates a day at school during Aztec's pioneer era with reading, writing and 'rithmetic. There will also be craft activities and plenty of old-fashioned fun & games. Students will wear pinafore aprons or suspenders provided by the museum to help set the stage for a day in the past they'll remember long into the future.

Cost is $20 per student with a limit of 10 students per session. Reservation with payment required. Lunch is provided in a take-home souvenir pail. Students also receive a certificate of completion.

Our costumed teacher for this special day is Jessica Sledzinski. Jessica is the principal of Park Avenue Elementary School, Aztec, and a member of the museum board. She has an extensive background in art, history and education. She has put together a one-day curriculum typical of the time period and age/skill level appropriate. There will be an additional costumed assistant on hand to help.

Three sessions will take place in 2024: Friday, June 7th; Friday, June 21st; and Thursday, July 11th.
