The San Juan Historical Society and Amy's Bookcase are excited to host Author Alysa Landry at the Farmington Civic Center on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:00pm to discuss her book, Thomas H. Begay and The Navajo Code Talkers.

Alysa Landry teaches English, journalism, and creative writing at the Navajo Nation’s Diné College. She has written for Navajo Times–Diné bi Naltsoos, Indian Country Today, the Searchlight New Mexico news organization, and other publications.

"When Thomas reached the top of the final mesa and looked down on his family's hogan, he finally understood that the war was over.  Thomas's family had no idea he was on his way home until he showed up with his uniform with a seabag over his arm, and the pinch of corn pollen still tucked into his wallet.  "Hi, Mom.,' He said, "I'm home."
