Join the Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village on Friday, June 14th as they celebrate their 60th Anniversary with a special event in partnership with the San Juan County Historical Society!

6:00pm
Dr. Jimmy Miller presents the program, “Celebrating 60 Years of the Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village”. Enjoy Dr. Miller’s delightful reminiscences highlighting important moments and acquisitions in the organization’s 60 year history, beginning with the Aztec Branch of the San Juan County Museum and later founding of the independent nonprofit Aztec Museum Association.

Dr. Miller is a past president of the museum’s board of directors and currently serves as the organization’s secretary. He taught history at San Juan College for over 30 years as well as adult education programs. He remains active in several community civic organizations along with his wife, Sylvia Lujan Miller.

7:00pm
The Village Band returns to the Event Shed at the museum for another concert bringing fresh energy to ragtime and popular music of the early 20th Century. The group is led by award-winning composer and pianist, Hoyle Osborne. He and cornet player Mick Hesse have brought together eight talented musicians four years ago to give concerts of vintage music to San Juan County! The concert is part of the Connie Gotsch Arts Foundation “Music at the Museum” concert series.

This is a free community event; gates open at 5:30pm. Please enter through the west gate behind the Pioneer Village by the Aztec Splash Pad off Park Avenue. The museum’s concert series is made possible thanks to the generosity of the Connie Gotsch Arts Foundation and all of the museum’s 60th Anniversary Sponsors. No pets are allowed during events in the Pioneer Village for the safety and enjoyment of guests, speakers and musicians. Service animals only. For information, call the museum at 505-334-9829.

The San Juan County Historical Society will offer their selection of books for sale as well as the opportunity for SJCHS members to pick up their annual membership book. For information about the San Juan County Historical Society, call 505-334-7163.
