As America marks its 250th birthday, the Museum of Navajo Arts and Culture celebrates a remarkable visual history woven in wool. This special exhibition brings together 15 striking Diné weavings, ranging from vivid pictorial scenes to patriotic imagery, each offering a unique perspective on the American story.

When the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, its promises and politics may have seemed far removed from the canyons and mesas of the Diné homeland in western New Mexico and eastern Arizona. Yet, over the past 250 years, the sweeping changes, symbols, and stories of America have found their way into Diné weaving. These textiles do more than reflect history—they tell it through the eyes, hands, and artistic traditions of Diné weavers.
