In honoring National Women’s History Month, the Broadening Horizons Lecture Series at San Juan College will present a special music theatre piece, Unbought, by the Core Ensemble featuring actress Tiffany Terrell and pianist Mikael Darmanie, Wednesday, March 29, at 6 p.m. at the San Juan College Connie Gotsch Theatre.
The Unbought music theatre piece features the dramatic stories of journalist and women’s suffrage activist, Ida B. Wells; Thomas Jefferson’s slave and concubine, Sally Hemings; and Shirley Chisholm, the first African American U.S. Congress and the first African American woman to run for President. This free event includes music from popular and folk traditions and works by African American composers.
This presentation of Unbought is sponsored by Citizens Bank through the San Juan College Foundation and is free and open to the public.
