What does it mean to “walk the red road”? For many Native communities, it is a symbolic expression for living purposefully and choosing a path of positive change.

Re-Discovering Native America: Stories in Motion with The Red Road Project brings together the work of Danielle SeeWalker (HúÅ‹kpapÈŸa Lakota) and Italian photographer Carlotta Cardana, founders of The Red Road Project. Since 2013, the project has traveled across the country, documenting the lives, experiences, resilience, and perspectives of Indigenous individuals and communities.

Featuring exquisite landscape and portrait photography alongside personal stories, the exhibition challenges historical narratives that have too often overlooked or misrepresented Native cultures, values, and experiences.

Explore eleven subject areas spanning reservation and urban life, connections to land and tradition, political and environmental activism, and more. Together, these photographs and stories illuminate the diversity of Native nations and Tribes while celebrating the shared bonds, strength, and resilience of Indigenous Americans.
