Meet the Artist: Jerald Sherman
Born in 1957 to a Navajo father and a Hopi mother, Jerald Sherman brings the rich traditions of his dual heritage to life through his art. His journey as a sand painter began at just 13 years old, when he studied under Harry Yabeney, a Navajo medicine man.
Through Harry’s teachings, Sherman learned the traditional designs and meanings behind sacred sand paintings, including the Sun and Eagle. Today, he honors those teachings while adding his own distinctive artistic variations, creating works that celebrate tradition, heritage, and personal expression.

Come explore the exhibits, meet the artist, and experience an inspiring evening where art, culture, and community come together!
