The Museum of Navajo Art and Culture is excited to host a FREE Chautauqua series. The lectures series include: 

October 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm
Deborah Blanche as Photographer, Laura Gilpin 
You will meet her in 1952, narrating a retrospective slide show with images ranging from her first Lumiere color prints to others from her best-known book, The Enduring Navajo.  Miss Gilpin answers questions and shares intriguing behind-the-camera stories.

Judith Avila speaks about Chester Nez: World War II Navajo Code Talker
Although 420 code talkers served in the Marines during World War II, none had written memoirs until Nez's 2012 autobiography, Code Talker. Chester Nez (1921-2014) was one of the original code talkers.

This presentation offers a glimpse into the Cochiti Pueblo world told through personal experiences, traditional stories and teachings as demonstrates the steps to construct the famous Cochiti drum.
