The Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village museum is located on Main Avenue in Historic Downtown Aztec featuring 15 historic buildings and thousands of artifacts on 3.5-acres. This event is free and open to the public. The museum will open at 1pm for guests to enjoy. Refreshments will be served by the Event Shed in the Pioneer Village and include goodies from local vintage cookbooks!
The program begins at 1:30pm with "Aztec's Six Old Soreheads: A Brief History of Boosterism & Branding Small Town America" presented by Joan Monninger, the museum's executive director. This brief program will be followed by a lively Panel Discussion featuring Six of Aztec's Old Soreheads and audience Q&A. We welcome ALL Aztec Soreheads and their families to this reunion to share and enjoy Sorehead memories and memorabilia.
The museum will announce the return of the Six Old Soreheads fundraiser for 2025 benefiting the museum. This fundraiser runs till December and is YOUR chance to become an Old Sorehead while supporting the museum's mission to collect, preserve and share the rich history of the communities we serve!
You've seen the signs! So grab your brown bag and join us for this fun and informative afternoon of Aztec nostalgia!
The museum is located at 125 N. Main Avenue in Historic Downtown Aztec. Additional parking available for this event in the municipal lot off Park Avenue by the Splash Pad. Enter the Pioneer Village through the west gate behind the museum grounds. The Pioneer Village Event Shed has seating for approximately 150. There will be a brief general meeting of the Aztec Museum Association following the program.
