The conference planning committee is eager to bring together those in the four states, three Tribal Nations, and three EPA regions that encompass the watersheds to share and learn from their recent and ongoing research, monitoring, restoration, and public outreach projects in order to understand and address the pressing water resource needs of the Animas and San Juan Rivers.

This year’s conference, Water Without Borders - Four Corners, Three Rivers, will take place in a simultaneous hybrid format June 12-13, 2024, at the San Juan College Henderson Fine Arts Center in Farmington, NM, and online. Like previous years, the program will include both oral and poster presentations, as well as field trip presentations to be announced.

Tuesday, June 11
Registrants are welcome to attend a bus tour to see portions of the Animas-La Plata Project in and around Durango, as well as the operations at Navajo Dam.

Friday, June 14
Attendees are invited to another bus field trip to the Bonita Peak Mining District Superfund site near Silverton to view the water treatment plant installed near the outlet of the Gold King Mine after the spill event in August 2015. The trip will also include a visit to a new mine waste repository under construction.

This conference continues to support the activities outlined in the Gold King Mine Water Spill Long Term Monitoring Plan.
