Located within Farmington's Animas Park, the Riverside Nature Center is nestled along the stunning trails of Animas and Berg Parks and the Animas River, providing the perfect location for wildlife viewing. Bird Watching
Eagles, herons, and over 135 other species of birds live near Farmington's Riverside Nature Center. The facility fosters an avid local birding community and offers weekly bird-watching programs. The friendly and knowledgeable staff at the facility offers visitors bird feed and binoculars and is the perfect place to stop when acquainting yourself with the local flora and fauna.
Wildlife Viewing
The Riverside Nature Center is the perfect location for wildlife viewing. Guided activities like bird watching, wildlife walks, nature walks or moonlight walks are also offered. Various educational programs are held throughout the year for all ages. Deer, bats, skunks, beaver, fox, and prairie dogs are seen daily within the garden and trails surrounding the Nature Center.
Nature Center Exhibits
Exhibits within the Nature Center feature the plants and animals of the riverside with an emphasis on historic uses and ecosystems. Several photos and art exhibits are displayed at the center throughout the year. Outside the Nature Center, you will find herb and Xeriscape demonstration gardens.
