Art in the Heart Sculptures
You can't help but fall in love with the Farmington art scene when you stroll along Main Street in Historic Downtown. To complement the art galleries, murals and shops the City of Farmington hosts a rotating exhibition of sculptures that reside along the Main Street corridor.
Historic Downtown, Main Street, Farmington, NM
In Farmington, we love spending time outdoors, and we are passionate about our art. So, it only made sense to further establish Historic Downtown Farmington as a dynamic arts and cultural district by combining the two and hosting the Art in the Heart Sculptures, an outdoor art exhibition.
Launched in 2023, the exhibit invites talented artists from New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Arizona to submit their works in hopes of being chosen to be a part of a vibrant, outdoor gallery set in the historic heart of downtown Farmington. Submitted pieces are evaluated on a specific set of criteria, including quality, timelessness and compatibility with our Downtown aesthetic, but, with no specific yearly theme, the exhibit also celebrates a wide range of artistic visions, making each year’s display unique and exciting, featuring sculptures of everything from marble to mixed media.
The Main Street Sculpture Exhibit is a welcome addition to Farmington’s already flourishing art scene. With a nice mix of cultural designs, stunning landscapes, textiles and jewelry also on display in other galleries, trading posts and unique boutiques, it’s easy to see how every stroll through the area is a journey through both creativity and culture. It also speaks to how dedicated this community is to offering both residents and visitors the opportunity to engage with some great public art!
If you find yourself wanting to add one of these beautiful sculptures to your own collection, all the pieces on display are available for purchase. Interested buyers can contact the Farmington Museum at (505)599-1174 for further information. Artists, visit farmingtonnm.gov/sculptures for more information on how to submit your works to the Main Street Sculpture exhibit. A Call for Artists is typically issued towards the end of the year, with up to 20 sculptures chosen for display annually.
