Twentieth-century musical expression became a highly personal vernacular. Julia Perry wrote music that echoes Stravinsky, even as a Kentucky native. The Hungarian-born Bartok uses folk melodies as his basis, and the sound of Prokofiev seems both radical and completely natural. Local side-by-side student musicians will join the program for the first half of the concert.
