What’s Ten-82?
A 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2008 by law enforcement with the Rio Rancho Police Department and Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. The organization assists public servants (police, fire, military) during times of hardship due to illness or injuries. Since its inception, Ten-82 has donated over $100K to public servants throughout New Mexico. Their wish is to be able to offer assistance to public servants throughout the country.
Why is FPD Running?
Farmington Police Officer Joseph Barreto was injured in the line of duty on Jan. 7, 2022, responding to a drunk driver call. Officer Barreto made contact with a man and woman walking in the area who matched the description of the car’s occupants. The man pulled out a gun and fired several shots hitting Officer Barreto in the arm. The man fled the scene. He was later arrested in Arizona. Officer Barreto had to undergo numerous surgeries and is on light-duty while he continues his road to recovery. Ten-82 was able to monetarily help Officer Barreto and his family during their time of need. He and the Farmington Police Department are grateful for the organization's support and want to pay it forward to other public servants experiencing hardships.
