Race to the Summit Kids Climbing Competition

Presented by San Juan College Indoor Climbing Wall

CHALLENGE 2 “RACE TO THE SUMMIT” is a half dome, 2,000 ft. peak  in Yosemite National Park

• April 5-30, 2022   
• Kids Only 17 and under                             
• Divisions: 8 and under, 9-12, 13-17

CLIMBERS WILL GET 20 DAYS TO ACCUMULATE 2,000FT TO SUMMIT THE PEAK.

• 67 climbs on Top Rope = 2000’
• 57 climbs on Lead = 2000’

One Top Rope Climb Will Count as 30 ft., and One Lead Climb Will Count as 35ft.

• Climbers are allowed to rest but must complete climb
• Climbing routes and any part of the wall can be counted
• Progress of climber will be recorded and displayed at the climbing wall

Cost: $20 Fee/ Challenge to Participate in This Competion

• Climbers can pay at the Service Desk and Climbing Wall staff will register climber
• Participants will receive event wrist band to rent gear for competition
• Wrist band is only good for duration of event

First to Summit 2000’ will be winner, 2nd, 3rd, Highest Climb

PRIZES:

• 1st –3rd Place for Woman’s and Men’s Divisions
• 1st will get choice of Harness, Climbing Shoe Voucher, 1 Month Pass to the Climbing Wall.
• Climbers will be given scorecards and sign off climbs together.
