Carrizo, SJCHS's first oral-history film documentary, delves into life in a harsh and unforgiving land. "I began my book with my father's account when his father (10-year-old Jose Porfirio) left him alone to care for a small herd of old ewes and spans over 100-years, culminating with my parents' death in the 1990's." -Victor A. Abeyta.
From the viewpoint of his father, Jose Porfirio, Abeyta, brings to life the people of the Carrizo Community, their friendships and hardships from 1915 to 1937.
His book, Carrizo, will be on sale for $20 following the film presentation on Wednesday, October 16th from 6:00-8:00pm at the Farmington Civic Center. It is free and open to the public.
