Event Information
The Battle will feature 4 different trail runs (34 Mile Ultra, 17 Mile, 4 Mile, 1 Mile Fun Run) and 2 different MTB rides (17 Mile and 4 Mile) with cash prizes. These trails have some epic gains of up to 5,800 ft. This is a Halloween event so all competitors will be in costume, and dogs are welcome (in costume of course) for the 4-mile trail run. Bring the kids out for a 1 mile “Trick-or-Treat” fun run. Brought to you by The Strike Zone, BLM, City of Farmington, Alien Bike Shop and 505 Cycles.
Battle in the Badlands Registration Information
Registration for the trail run is open on Eventbrite.com fees are as listed. There are two listings, one for the trail runs and one for the MTB races.
- $50 - 34-mile ultramarathon
- $40 - 17-mile trail run
- $20 - 4-mile trail run
- $5 - 1-mile kids’ Trick-or-Treat fun run
Registreation for the mountain bike race is open on Eventbrite.com, fees are as listed. The 17 mile loop will have a pro, cat 1, and a cat 2 category for different levels of competition. Top pro male and female finisher for the long course will receive $200 each. The short course will have 2 different categories, a youth u16 class and and open age category. All are welcome! Trails are friendly to all types of bikes, however plus size tires might be the best size for the job.

- 17-mile pro MTB race (2,800 ft. gain) – 7:00 am
- 4-mile fat tire mountain bike race (800 ft. gain) – 8:30 am
All courses feature a mostly single-track desert landscape through pinon and juniper trees. Be prepared for anything from loose sandy hard pack dirt, sandstone slickrock, and clay mud if it rains. Directions: Pinon Mesa is location at 3801 La Plata Highway in Farmington, New Mexico. From the intersection of Pinion Hills and Hwy 170, head north on HWY 170 for approximately .7 miles. On the left-hand side of the road (west), there is a single, large cottonwood tree in a small parking lot. Trail head starts at the green gate.
