The San Juan College Choir, directed by Virginia Nickel-Hircock, will present their fall concert in the Henderson Fine Arts Performance Hall.
Something new. Something different. Unison. Voicing, when referred to in choral ensembles, may indicate the type of ensemble voices required to perform a choral selection. SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) denotes the most common voicing for ensembles. However, the most pure and arguably the most difficult voicing is unison. “Unison” comes from the Latin roots uni meaning “one,” and sonous meaning “sound”. This concert will feature the most simple of intervals throughout history and genre. From Medieval plainchant to contemporary pop hits, from children’s song-games to world folk music, this concert will invite united audience participation and invoke unified agreement for the sharing of the most consonant of intervals.
Don’t miss this great night of music for the whole family.
