HISTORY WALK
Walk to the Veteran’s Memorial and also see many less well-known sites in Animas and Berg Parks illustrating the history of the area. Learn about river history, native and introduced plants, and Farmington history, as well as the national history commemorated by the memorial. Meet at the Riverside Nature Center, History Walk will be from 9am – 11am.

CROWNPOINT RUG AUCTION
300-400 hand woven Navajo rugs are auctioned off at this monthly auction sponsored by the Crownpoint Rug Weavers Association. Rug viewing takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Auction begins at 7 p.m. Auction held at the Crownpoint Elementary School (72 miles south of Farmington on Hwy. 371)

FARMINGTON GROWERS' MARKET
Visit this local market for the freshest most flavorful fruits and vegetables available! Local Farmers and Growers fill the lot with their fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, meats, plants and cut flowers. Market is held at the Gateway Park Museum and Visitor Center, 3041 E. Main in Farmington and is held Saturdays (beginning July 10) from 8am to 11am and Tuesdays (beginning July 20) from 4:30pm to 7pm until the second week of October or the first freeze.

BIRDS OF SUMMER
This early morning walk, 8am to 10am, will enable us to see and learn the colorful birds which spend the summer along the Animas River. Look for nests, learn what the different birds eat, and listen for their songs and calls. Beginners and experienced birders are welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them or borrow some at the Riverside Nature Center. Children should be old enough to walk slowly and quietly; children’s binoculars are available. No pets, please.

WINE & SHINE CLASSIC CAR SHOW
Join Wines of the San Juan for a car show, food and music from the “Get Back’s”. Event will be held from 10:30am to 3:30pm. To register a car into the car show call 632-0879 (registration is only $10, register by July 1 for a free wine glass). There is no admission fee for this event.

OPENING HELEN'S TRUNK
This interactive exhibit at the Farmington Museum features six women artists and a turn-of-the-century trunk. It explores questions of identity, legacy, and what it means to be a creator of art in connection with a larger society. The show features a variety of media, including film, writing, music, photos, textiles, sculpture, and personal treasures that, together, weave a community of art. Visitors are invited to collaborate by adding their own art, stories and responses. An opening reception will be held July 23 from 7pm to 8pm.

SUNSET & MOONRISE WALK
Sunset can be the best time to enjoy the wildlife, fragrances, and beautiful trees in Animas and Berg Parks. Join Riverside Nature Center staff and volunteers a leisurely walk of about two miles from 8pm to 9:30pm. We’ll see the sunset colors, watch the first planets come out, and admire the lighted flags of the Veterans’ Memorial. Cameras are welcome. No dogs, please.

DISNEY'S ALADDIN KIDS
Come to the Lions Wilderness Park Amphitheater and enjoy a stage show starring all children! Performance begins at 8pm and gates open at 6:30pm, concessions will be available. The Heather McGaughey Children’s Theatre (HMCT) missions is to build the love of theater and promote self-confidence and teamwork skills in Farmington’s youth. HMCT uses professional actors to perform with and direct the children in the children’s play. Admission is a $5 donation.

Its carnival time again! The Farmington Recreation Center’s end of the summer carnival will be
held outdoors at Kiwanis Park in Farmington from 9:30am to 12 noon. Come one, come all, to
a morning full of fun! Try your luck at our crazy games and activities; there will be something for
everyone. This event is for ages 4 – 14. Cost is $1.
